چکیده

We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is derived from the Monte-Carlo data for the exchange-correlation energy of a twodimensional electron gas system. We compare our results with those of previous calculations which used a local field factor that satisfied the compressibility sum rule in three-dimension. In general, the stopping power increases by taking into account the short-range interactions. In addition, it is found that the dicluster stopping power (in particular the uncorrelated part) obtained from our calculations is smaller than the previous work.

Dicluster stopping in a degenerate electron gas

In this paper we report on our theoretical studies of various aspects of the correlated stopping power of two pointlike ions (a dicluster) moving in close but variable vicinity of each other in some metallic target materials, the latter being modeled by a degenerate electron gas with appropriate densities. Within the linear-response theory we have made a comprehensive investigation of correlate...

The Effect of Exchange-Correlation Holes on the Temperature Dependent Dynamic Dielectric Function of Single-Layer Quantum Wells and Coupled Nanolayers

In this paper, for the first time we have studied theoretically the effect of exchange-correlation holes around electrons in GaAlAs/GaAs/GaAlAs nanostructure on the temperature-dependent dynamic dielectric function of two-dimensional electron gas by employing random phase, STLS and Hubbard approximations. Also, we have investigated another interesting system which is coupled quantum wells struc...

Fast projectile stopping power of two-dimensional strongly correlated electron liquids

– We study the high-velocity-projectile limit of the polarizational contribution to the in-plane stopping power in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron liquid. The dielectric formalism based on the method of moments is employed. The frequency moments of the loss function are calculated using the model Hamiltonian including the two-dimensional Coulomb interaction potential proportional to...

Local field corrections vs. Mermin dielectric function on proton stopping in plasmas

The energy loss of charged particles in a free electron gas is of considerable interest to actual slowing-down problems. This is a topic of relevance to understand the beam-target interaction in the contexts of particle driven fusion. The energy losses of ions moving in an electron gas can be studied through the stopping power of the medium. Large number of calculations of the stopping power of...
